hi all fitted a new water pump to my disco 300tdi auto 2 month ago
(britpart). because my aux belt was stripping the outer rib off ( found info online) two day ago it went again along with the belt to.
so took the new old water pump back to excange it under warrenty.
and they said no because my tenstioner was to tight (rubbish)
so brought a new pump again fitted it only to fined today the water pump has gone again.
if you could help that would be great.

Don't buy a Britpart pump!

I waited in the garage over here whilst they fitted a new Britpart pump on mine....

First one was immediately rejected as it had a knackered bearing, second one went after two days. Best bet is to buy a better brand, sorry.

Make sure that you are using the correct length serp belt. There are two sizes with slightly different lengths - if you fit the wrong one it could be overly-tight leading to too much pressure on ancilliary bearings such as your water pump.

if its a 300TDi there are two belts - one for a 62mm Alternator pulley and one for use with a 49mm pulley.

Wrong belt will either squeal like a pig - cos its slipping, or destroy the water pump - because its too tight.
