1998 2.5 300 tdi auto the hi lo shift stick wont move is this a common fault can i fix it help please im not haveing much luck this is landrover number 3 im not sure if its a disco 1 or 2

U might have to strip the console out of the middle. Disconnect the linkage and removes the whole lever assembly (only a few bolts) and get it int vice, loads of WD40 and keep working it. I've had them so siezed in the past that I've soaked them overnight in diesel.

If its a 300 its a D1 . And yes , its a VERY common problem especially on vehicles that have only had light use .

If it's a TDi engine it's a D1. When you say it won't move, do you mean it won't move between low and high, or diff lock and unlock?

You do know that your need the autobox to be in 'N' to move between high & low?
