Hi guys, forgive me if I've posted this in the wrong section but I figured it would be better than not posting it at all.

Yesterday I took my 2.5l 96 discovery out; I don't use it very often (maybe once every two weeks.)
I noticed a stream of diesel following me, after closer inspection there appears to be a rather big drip coming from the outer edge of the bottom of the engine (crank case I believe it’s called?)

Is this an area where diesel would drip if broken/cracked or is it more likely be a perished hose or something else higher up?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Follow the fuel line that goes to the lift pump, fuel filter, injection pump and the pipes from there to the injectors. Then follow the leak off pipes that link the injectors and head back to the fuel tank.

You might need to give everything a clean up if you've fuel everywhere but a leak that size should be fairly easy to spot.

If you don't know what any of those things are Google it.

If it is coming from the timing cover (front of engine-metal cover behind crank pulley)-It is likely the drive end seal of the injection pump is leaking-if this is the case it could be leaking onto the cambelt, which will fail soon,if this is the case. This needs checking sooner rather than later if this is the case.
Quite happy to tell you how to renew this seal if you are good with spanners.

Also put your location on here, then someone might be able to help you.

Thanks everyone for your help. I think Biolandy might be right, it looks as if its coming from the large metal casing just behind the crank pulley, I first thought it was a gasket at the join of the block (lots of bolts around the edge holding it on.) Now though it looks like a small hole just above the join between the two. Could that be repaired in any way?......sorry for the lack of technical wording!

Two black circles....one inside the other... Is this a possible place for diesel to leak?
