hi all -- i,ve noticed water pooling in the driver side foot well and then dripping on to the drive .
i checked the coolant tank and noticed it had lost some , any way refilled the coolant but its happening again water is pouring out of the footwell area .
the landy is a 1996 discovery , non aircon .
is this likely to be the heater rad/matrix .
is this a DIY job or a pro job .
anyone know what landrover would charge.

any advice and tips most welcome .

thanks

are you sure its coolant and not just water, have you any anti freeze in, if so, just taste the water to see if its sweet before you start ripping the dash out

i had a lick , its coolant , what else can it be , not had any rain or washed the screen .

Sounds like your heater matrix has blown I'm afraid it's a full cockpit/dashboard removal job to get at it. You can disconnect both hoses inside the engine bay. Then join them together temporarily to prevent any further coolant loss. It's an easy job but very time consuming If your landy dealers charging the usual rate then you'd be looking at a very big bill. I'd advise doing it yourself.

hi mate
last time i went down that road they charged £25 an hour that was a few years ago dread to think how much now. had the dash out on my 200 to cure an electrical problem i had, not difficult took me all day.
Be methodical in the way you go about i had several small pots to put screws and washers in and labeled them to each piece of dash.Try to replace screws back in panels were possible and place dash/panels in rear of car in order, this stops the rug rats riding over them or picking them up asking whats this for??
oh dont loose the anti rattle foam on areas near bulk head, nothing worse than doing a job like that then 2 mins down the road the whole car starts to vibrate.
hope this helps if i can do it any body can best of luck fella:)
