alright folks, last saturday the turbo on my discovery 200 tdi decided to give up and blow its seals, so ive stripped it down this week and brought a new turbo off blue beasty on here and put it all back to together fine. ive changed the oil, filters and fuel filter while it was in this state but now it wont fire, it cranks over as though it wants to but thats as far as it goes. Ive checked the battery fine, check all wiring im not stumped as to what it could be, any help we be gratefully received

jp

Did you start it after doing the turbo (before doing filter)?
Is the fuel filter making a good seal ?

Did yu fill the fuel filter with clean diesel before fitting?? Have you tried priming the system with the priming lever??

try loosening the fuel feed pipe at the filter to see if fuel is getting thru

yea started first time ever time before turbo went and changed the filter, i didn't fill the filter with clean diesel, i just primed the filter till diesel came out the bleed nut on top, as i read it in my haynes manual

right i've bleed the fuel system all the way to the injectors and got fuel coming out the top when crank it over and bleed the fuel pump as well. Still no joy is it possible the battery is down on power as its seems to want to start but as though lacks 'spark' to ignite the engine.

right ive changed the fuel filter re bleed the system again, checked the injector solenoid, and still doesn't want to fire up, it ran for a split second then cut straight back out again. im seriously losing patience now with it, as its my every day car. anyone got any other ideas? cheers jp

Has oil blocked the inlet system somehow?

Will it start with the pipe removed from the inlet manifold?

How about glow plugs? Are they all good? Does a 200 even need glow plugs?

If you've got fuel squirting out of the injectors unions when you crack the nuts off then you've got fuel to the injectors.

As long as injectors aren't blocked, airways aren't blocked, and everything is in time, that there diesel will run!

Go figure! :D

yea fuel coming out the unions checked them already, tool the inlet pipe off still no difference. i comely out of ideas ive read everything there is to know and check as to why it wont fire tried it all and still no luck so im stumped now

If you feel the battery may be down on power, get another car and some jump leads over. Just a thought..
