hi all i'm new here hope your all good any way i got a range rover v8 bobtail
and have a problem with it its a 3.5 with carbs so its old when it gets warm it
looses power gets a really bad misfire and pops back through the manifold
i have changed the plugs leads cap rotor arm cleaned the carb's fileld the needles so there sharp changed the coil changed the fuel pump and its still the same its bloody annoying also made sure the leads are on the right way and tightly pushed on any help would be much appreciated thnks

You filed the needles on the carbs? Well that's fecked them for sure, the mixture will be all over the place.

needles ****ed for sure, timing- vac diaphram and advance weights common, possibly valve or head gasket also

youll need to replace needles but it helps to remove intake and watch fuel mix under different throttle positions, check inlet manifold bolts are tight not causing air leaks

I have even known cam chains to jump a tooth and mess the camshaft timing and ignition timing also heavy oil in the carb dampers sometimes stops backfiring on acceleration.

sounds like the camshaft to me, bet the rear exhaust lug has worn off. new cam and timing chain kit . but take the inlet manifold off first and check condition of cam, but i lay a pound to a penny its the cam

Filed needles to a point. Where the hell did you get that bit of tuning advice. Fit new needles you will need a special tool for resetting mixture. Check diaphragms in carbs for splits. Make sure carb dampers are filled with engine oil. If you took the needles out and just screwed them back in without setting them properly, your mixtures will be all to cock.
