Just bought a Discovery 2 TD5 Auto yesterday to use as my back and forward to work hack to replace my VW Bora diesel which I must say I loved. I do no miles in my car as I travel 5 miles in on a Monday and the same back on a Friday as I drive a truck for a living all over the UK.
The Disco was a trade in at a garage and isnt in too bad condition considering the age. Its got 130k on it together with a load of receipts for work done recently. I guess the last owner got rid to cut his losses, over £900 spent since January. i only paid £2995 for it with only 6 days MOT, but put it straight in yesterday and it passed with advisories on all brake discs and pads which I will replace next week. Got a few strange warning lights on the dash too, centre diff red light flashed a couple of times today but has gone off and the gearbox m &s lit up yesterday, but that was after whacking it into gear as soon as the engine fired, it hasnt done it again.
Whats everyones views on the brakes? I am looking at vented discs, are they worth the extra money?
