Hi All,

I will become the proud(?) owner of a 2001 4.0 HSE tomorrow, I am going in eyes open and expect to spend some time laid on my back in the freezing cold repairing various things as they go wrong!

In anticipation of this is I was hoping for some advice on diagnostic tools, I did a search and most recent threads seemed to be from several years ago. Are the Nanocom and Hawkeye units still the models to look at? Will either of them synchronise the immobiliser with the ECU should the battery have to be removed?
I know that this happened to the current owner very recently after fitting a new battery and they were relieved of £60 by an independent for the pleasure of re-setting the immobiliser/ ECU. Would either allow you to code new keys to the car?

Also does anyone know of a good independent garage in the Bury St Edmunds or Sudbury area.

Any advice very gratefully received.

I am on the border of west Suffolk and Essex should anyone want to help fix stuff in the cold or if they need a hand doing the same;o))

Thanks
Ian
