hello everyone, just joined this great forum!
I don't have a land rover as of yet:doh:, but I have joined for advice and chat etc. I really wanted a defender but, after lusting after one for many years, have realised after trying one at work,im to big to drive one
6.5" and 22 stone .so have decided I want a discovery now.which to be honest is probably a better car for me. so I know very little about them. Ive restored a few cars in the past .so welding/mechanics are not a problem . im am not interested in the new discovery, mainly the earlier 200/300 tdis or possibly a td5? heard so many stories etc don't know what to believe. my budget is very tight. im not frightened of rough cars as if its cheaper, its easier to afford.then don't mind spending money later.i don't want a mint car or a show winner. just a usable motor. advice needed

:welcome2: to looneyzone.
Don't know much about discos but i can tell you that defenders aren't made for big peeps , i'm a mere girly and i must say my td5 is none too roomy even for me! I expect that the TD5 disco will have dearer parts than a 200/300tdi so if you're gonna be putting it through it's off road paces , you may find that the latter is cheaper to maintain ...get yourself into the disco section and i'm sure the lovely folk there will give you all the pro's and cons.
