Thanks for all the help, It turned out to be the key reader. I got a new one + full lock and including housing and the wiper arm stalk for £35. A1 4x4 breakers, tile st. bury lancs. The guy took all the parts off for me. Tel 0161-7977050.

Just to help people out in the future. Is the key reader a palstic ring type one similar to the one in the link I put up?
