Grrrrrr
Technician, Bodgit & Scarper Ltd
Well, I had a day off work today so I thought I'd strip and clean my height sensors. 2 bolts each, what could be easier? ...
So, half a day later I have failed to get the first one off. The 2 bolts holding it came half out and then just span round and round. Closer examination reveals the plastic height-sensor has 2 brass collars (see photo) and the bolts seems to screw into the collars.

However, the collars just spin round and round. I tried using Q-bond to glue the brass collar to the plastic and failed miserably. I tried gripping the brass collars but there's almost nothing to grip and as soon as I put some force on the bolt the brass just broke away.
The only thing I can think of doing is to saw the ends off the bolts and then presumably drill the stubs out of the brass collars - or do the collars just bang out?
So, what I'm really hoping is that someone has a less destructive way of getting the bar-steward bolts out? Anyone?
While we're about it, how do you disconnect the arms from the sensor? I notice a little pin going through the join. Do I bang that pin out and then just slide the sensor off the arm?
Cheers,
J
