Hi hope you guys can help. I recently retro fitted cruise control into my td5 discovery 2. The cruise control is working fine but my steering has gone really heavy notchy and won't return to centre. I took the steering wheel off to fit the switches and it was all fine before I took the wheel off. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be?
Thanks
Chris

Are you sure that taking the steering wheel off and putting back on has caused the problem?

Cheers

Well before I took it off there was absolutely no problem with it at all. Have looked and the belt and pump are fine no leaks etc.
Thanks

It does sound like your work on the steering wheel should be rechecked. Although, I don't know why the steering wheel needed to be removed, all that's really necessary is to remove the driver's airbag to gain access to the connectors and cut the required elongated hole with a Dremel or similar device.

When I bought the cruise control kit 9t came with the plastic Cowell with the hole in it.

That does sound like a tad too much work. Having said that, maybe undoing the job and checking for anything binding or fouling would sound like the best way to go first off.

Sounds like one of the joints in the steering column has been pulled apart when pulling steering wheel off. Intermediate to bottom is the likely culprit.
