If the original fit screw has not been replaced in the past for an Allen head or Hex head bolt, I have the screwdriver you need.

It's a 450mm long POZ 2. Only used once!

You can borrow it for the cost of the postage if you want.

(That goes for anyone else thinking about doing this job that needs the long screwdriver).

Im just back from Stufers guide. THANK YOU STUFER It looks methodical. (ive taken the dials housing out before now to change bulbs, so really just the side & top trim of the centre console on top of that (its the cutting etc that will require the beer just before hand i feel)

I'm glad its been useful to some. I keep promising myself to get it all into a pdf with some text description that can be downloaded. Have found my original pics so hope to make a start today, provided nothing hits the fan at work ;)

McGorsky, Cheers sir, i may well take you up on that. Although ive done 230 miles this week (motorway & around town) & checked the water level morning & night daily & its not lost a drop of water, temp guage normal. Bizzar. So intermittent O ring issue? At the end of the day i need to sort it else the consequences will be far greater/worse that a wet carpet if it leaks again.
Stufer, a couple of words on the later photos would help, although i suppose once im in there under the dash, it will come apparent what to do.
Thank you

Started putting some words down today so yeah I'll try to make it clearer, will be next week before it's finished. Keep an eye on it.

I am leaking intermittently too! I have a big wad of paper towel up under the footwell vent, sometimes it's sopping after a week, sometimes it isn't. God knows why, but as soon as the weather warms up, I'll be doing mine again!

I hate intermittent faults arrrrghh ! but still not water loss so fingers crossed. For piece of mind i will get it done, just on tender hooks each time i drive him & don't like that feeling, takes the edge off the experience but agree that it needs to warm up a little as i dont have a garage to play in.

All done today using Stufers excellent guide.

All went pretty straight forward, the only problem I had was running out of steam during the cutting of the vent.

I was using a hack saw blade, and bare hands. Got there in the end, but it was uncomfortable, and took me a while.

Screw (or bolt in my case) replaced with a Stainless allen bolt for next time.

Wasn't leaking after the test drive, so I hope that's that for the next few years!

Cheers, Stufer.
