Can you get the heater matrix out of the heater without removing the heater assembly from a defender 300tdi

Looks tight!

I removed mine and by passed the matrix with a rubber hose so I could still run the landy,that gave me the chance to drill out the rivets and replace matrix and give it a coat of paint ,wouldn't like to try it while still attached to bulk head,not sure if you would have enough room to be honest.

No probs ,there's a step by step in busters guide with pics for removing heater box.

Hopefully just fixed it, the loop hose on the thermostat housing had a split in it and was weeping, which led to the smell of antifreeze. Possibly burning off the turbo. Pretty sure the hose isn't that old, but seems to have gone soft.....blue box!!
