Hey chaps,

Through no lack of effort I cannot find a genuine rubber anywhere for a sane price. I found one but it was £200!

Plan was to get fit done at National Windscreens who quoted £260 for a fitting with a rubber but I dont think it was genuine.

Autoglass wanted £230 for a genuine rubber! + £100 fitting and £135 for the screen!:eek::eek:

Anyone get any other suggestions? Or where I can find a genuine seal?

vehicleglazingspecialists@gmail.com this guy quoted £150 delivered or £99 to collect or £150 fitted if you drive to Birminham (he did say I can get fitted in Mirfield which is closer to Wakefield)
Whether there is the hidden charge of rubber I didn't ask. But I wouldn't have thought so if he quoted £150 fitted.
Check out the website which is easily found if you look at the email address.

Hope this helps, it's something I'm looking into also! But waiting on some £s to find their way to me

I had this exact same dilemma the other week.
Windscreen rubber was knackered, so was removed so I could paint the frame (As the whole 90 was in bits for a rebuild and paint)
I also wanted a genuine rubber, but couldn't find them for reasonable money. My worry was the fitment (Or bad fitment even) of non genuine rubbers. I.e cracking the screen when trying to fit.
In the end I bought a bearmach one. Fits good and not too big as I've heard the britpart ones can be.

Hmmm i have read decent things about the Bearmach one. Thats the other thing my rubber is pretty nakered..

I've just fitted an allmakes rubber and it was fine.

Don't know whether I'd like to attempt to fit a heated screen myself though, it could end up being an expensive mistake!

So National windscreens supply & fit with a guaranteed Pilkington Glass is £265.00 + £15 for the rubber £280.00. That sounds quite expensive to me...

Edit - Maybe not AutoGlass wanted £500!

They will for the cost of labour BUT theres no warrenty and if they break it its not their problem. So may aswell do it myself!

Does the windscreen and rubber get changed when you claim through insurance as I have three stone chips / cracks in mine but wanted to wait more towards mot time.

Dude, def fit it yourself. It was one of the easiest jobs I have done on my 90. I was really scared to start with, but as long as you have a second person to help lift it in it is really easy.

+1 for the bearmach seal too, I did mine nearly a year ago and no problems so far.

See what i'm worried about is breaking the screen.

Its £183.00 to get one shipped to me (maybe £130 if I can get one shipped off ebay) + £15 for the seal so £145/£200. If I break it or can't get it in its £70 odd to have it fitted pro and they may break it. Then its just not viable.

Would love to fit it myself, it looks easy but I can imagine its a pita

have u also got the cost of the electrics , relay etc on top of there quote

Right so looks like I am a total idiot. Just been out to see how this would all be done, turns out it looks like I have a heated screen just never worked.

I had a look around and found wires tucked under the dash which look like they connect to the windscreen, followed it back and that comes to where there is a switch missing in my dash! The very same hole where a heated screen switch would have been.
