Afternoon,

Hoping that somebody may have they're indicator/headlight stalk available to look at to tell me where the short loop of black wire connects to. I have it joined onto a connector with the purple wire at the top of the flasher switch but the tail of the wire has snapped away from its connector wherever else. I tried having a look around to see where it joins but I can't. Any help appreciated then hopefully my flasher will work :D

Just had a look at my spare, that cable looks like it goes into the stalk metal tube along with the black/purple tracer wire so I assume it and the black/purple are used for the horn switch HTH.
If you get really stuck PM me with an email address and I will try and take some pictures
 
Thank you very much. So that's probably nothing to do with the flasher.

Horn switch and flasher don't work, headlights dip and main beam are all okay as are indicators. I've whipped the wheel off and taken out the clamp screw but can't get the stupid torx bolts out. I've checked the brown live wire and that's all okay.
 
On mine I had to solder that upright pin to the plate as it made no connection when it was pressed
 
I just switched the horn onto a switch myself and lived with not having a headlight flasher but it would be a nice thing to have. As far as I can see when I pull the stalk, contact is being made on the switch, so I guess that leaves an elctrickery fault. I will check continuity between the switch when I pull it just in case.

I had another fiddle this afternoon and checked continuity flasher switch is making contact all the way to the purple wire on the moulded connectors. Also when the flasher is pulled back it is showing continuity between the blue wire and I think it's the blue/white tracer. So all seems okay in terms of the switch. Unless there's a massive resistance inside?
 
Perhaps I should check for voltage After the flasher switch and see what it's kicking out, all I have done is check continuity. I suppose I could check resistance aswell, being just a switch there shouldn't be a lot. Should there?
 
A switch just makes a breaks the circuit should be no resistance,

I worked on one last week but i couldn't get my fat head with its kinky afro between the wheel and the screen to see where the wire went, sorry mate i did look for you, looked like it went onto the purple wire but i had **** loads to do so i could be assed to take the wheel and stalk off again

No worries chap, thanks for taking the time to have a nosies anyway. :)

I can't get my head around why it won't work. The brown live is live and supplying battery voltage, there's continuity back into the headlight feed as far as i have tested (to the moulded plug off the switch) my full beams works fine when pushed forward. Although now my full beam warning light has stopped working too.
 
I am not sure where you are with this, it looked like you had it covered to me but could i just say remember your hazards and indicators are on different supplies. Your hazards should work without the keys in the ignition, they are fed direct from the battery. Your indicators only work when the key is turned and i think its the purple wire that supplies the indicators.

I would test for voltage on the purple wire (either stick the probe through the insulation or shave a bit off with stanley, put some amalgam tape on after) WITH the ignition on and test the black wire that came loose, i dont know for sure without been there and seeing it but it looks like your chasing the wrong supply.

What vehicle did you say?

I'm afraid the problem is with the headlight flash/pass light light that you pull the stalk towards you for. My fault for being unclear I know that people have a few different names for indicators.
 
sorry just re-read from start hence the edit.
not sure but i think there are two supplys, blue from the light switch via a relay which supplys the dipped beam (blue with white trace) and brown with a ? trace that goes through another circuit to main beam (blue with red trace) the stalk flasher switch just turns one circuit off and the other on and vice a versa. i think your on the right lines have you checked with the switch pulled to see if theres voltage on the blue with red trace I think it goes to two fuse after that then onto each light.

I've checked voltage after the switch with the flash pulled back and it's only reading 4 volts. I haven't checked before the switch I guess the blue feeds that circuit. Just seems strange that dip and full both work but not with this silly little switch.
