Just got home from work in my new landrover Defender 90 (1985)

Anyway i left work this morning knowing that my Drivers side Light was not working (side lights fine head light not)

So i got home and have a look around firstly check all fuses and all seemed in working order. So i went onto the headlight itself. Pushed a few wires etc and tried again nothing changed. Anyway i then lent over and looked again got the wires pushed all connections etc and now my other headlight is not working :jaw:

So after all this i have resulted in taking the headlight out of the passenger side as there are connectors that side etc. i re installed all connectors taped them up for insolation etc. Tried again and nothing.

Have anyone else had this problem at all with there landrover as you can imagen im pulling my hair out everything seems right. BUt i dont think i know enough to pin point and say thats it i need to do this.

All the help would be much appriciated.

Thanks in advance

If the lights were on while you were pushing and pulling at connectors, could you have accidentally blown a fuse? Have you checked them, have you a multimeter?

Get your self a multimeter to check you have power both sides of the fuse & start working forward.

Well I had power on both sides a day ago! And the left hand side had power 2 min before! It seems strange how it's just stopped! Do you think it could be an earth!?

Normaly is, as I said get a multimeter & check. You could run a black wire from the battery to the light just to check, that will give you a good earth.

From the battery to the light. So direct from there to light. I am so novice at this! Can you answer for me are both lights separately earthed?

I would it work as an earth if I created a new earth from light to wing?

Yep, that's exactly what I had to do for one of my side lights :)

It sounds like dodgy earths, which is very likely on a 27 year old vehicle. I have had tonnes of earth problems with my 1989 110... but think I've finally got them all ironed out now. (Touch wood!)
