while topping up my screen wash and checking oil level etc i noticed my header tank has a couple of cracks on the top (around the lid area)

could this cause any probs
i dont know how long this has been like this, i didn't notice it when i renewed the the fluid a couple of month ago, and i haven't noticed any fluid loss and the temperature has been fine

yep i went out this morning and when i got back i could notice the smell, and when i checked the level it had lost a bit and the tank was hissing

done a quick DIY about an hour ago with good old gaffa tape :deadhorse:

The problem is if the tank can't hold the pressure then the coolant level will raise enough for an amount of it to be lost!! The later larger tank is better than than the small early tank but they still fail in time. I had to replace mine when I changed my engine as it had radial cracks around the cap. For under £30 it is'nt worth risking a head gasket for!!

Bodge it with a couple of tubes of super glue fill in the cracks (jobs a good un)
