hi all, the head gasket has popped on my 4.6 v8 the car is currently in north London and i was just wondering if anyone knows a good mechanic who can do the work and isn't hugely expensive

How do you know it's a head gasket and not a dropped liner or cracked block?

Its firing steam out of the exhaust, and the temp spiked rapidly but now its cold runs fine no knocks or bangs

As data said those symptoms could be anything

Well the only way to find out is to take the heads off and look and im at a funeral abroad next week so cant do it myself and need the car for work

Best thing to do now is stick a bottle of kseal in the rad and a for sale sticker in the window
