:confused:well today i changed the bearing in belt tensioner due to an annoying squeak coming from what sounded like the engine bay ,,,,,,,took the car (a 300tdi auto )and have still got the same noise...a neighbour has suggested it could be a worn/dry bush i'm not convinced.Problem is i'm beginning to get a little annoyed as the noise only happens after i pull off at about 1800 rpm but after i floor it the noise goes,as i ease off the throttle it comes back ,now im at my wits end so any suggestions welcome:confused:

I hate to bear bad news but I had exactly the same problem, thought it was the tensioner but it turned out to be the alternator. ended up having to change that.

After you try "penny trick" It might be worth sticking a new belt on it. Last one I bought was £8.00 from Paddocks.

have put new belt on and tried penny trick to no avail,,is it possible it could be uj on front prop shaft?

LOL

For an annoying squeak i find a good method to use when asking for a remote diagnosis is to give a tad more detail than a squeak from the engine bay .. while the engine's running? While you're accelerating, braking, driving along, in time with wheels, engine, steering ... as much detail as possible might help someone else pinpoint it.

I also find spraying ****loads of oil about might help relieve the symptoms .. ;)
