hi every body
i have just changed glow plugs all 6 with wellman plugs from my local motor factors, the problem ive got now is the engine management light is now on, and idles rough but starts fine, i took it for a short run to see if it would sort itself out but no change lots of white/blue smoke stinks of fuel, i recently changed the spill pipes with the correct pipes.
i only took off the inlet manifold didnt touch the injector pipes and ive triple checked that every thing is connected.
any ideas would be helpful before i part with £40 at independent tomorrow
its a 98 dse pre maf, it started fine before but chucked a load of crap out every time,4 plugs were knackered and 2 were borderline
thanks in advance

Think you had better take the manifold off again and look what you have missed. If management lamp is on you have missed or damaged something. Air inlet temp sensor, ECU temp sensor or number four injector connection. Any of those damaged or not connected will put lamp on but engine will still run. Favourite maybe number four injector wire trapped in manifold.

I should remove them and take them back. They are poor quality glow plugs. There is one broken one in mine that will have to stay there until I'm brave enough to blast it out the Wammers way.

Bosch, NGK or similar quality of the motor will throw a hissy much sooner than necessary.

thanks wammers it was as you expected had to rewire 4 injector gave it a bit more length so i could move it well out of the way runs well now no plooms of smoke :).
ive ordered some bosch plugs and will replace when sciatica eases off

No problem that's what we are here for. :):)

wammers im curious to know what your way of removing a broken plug is (as stated by gencybay)

From 27 April

"Only thing i can suggest is take out the threaded bit put a little Easit or Plus gas in the hole and let it soak a while keep doing this and starting engine after each application. DON'T put loads of Plusgas in and let it run into cylinder. Starting engine should blow the offending bit out after a while. But stand clear it will come out like a bullet so use some rags to catch it. That is the old time way of removing stuck injectors."
