Hey Anybody,
I have a Defender 90-which I seriouslylove- but at the mo I am finding it difficult to 'find' the gears and also they occasionally'grate' when I select them even tho I know the clutch is fully depressed!
I'm going to check the clutch fluid tomorro but if anyone has any bright ideas please let me know

Nope Clutch fluid and brake fluid are the same things. Gearbox takes MTF or ATF

To check oli levet Park on a level surface, then take the transmission tunnel off inside the landy and then you'll see a large Torx headed plug in the Drivers side of the gearbox. remove plug T55 Torx bit and using a bottle with a plastic filling tube. top up until the oil starts to come back out opf the filler hole. the level is now correct.

Diffs and transfer box takes EP80/90.

how olds the 90

If you lie underneath on the drivers side of the gearbox about halfway up youll see a plug that has a square head sticking out of it, use a spanner on this (about 15mm if i remember correctly) and check the level. As has been said it should be topped up so that it just running out of the hole

Reverse is not so difficult, and all gets better the warmer the engine/the longer I drive for.
Am being dippy but is it easy to fill this up as I am a COMPLETE novice and don't want to make things worse
Can i also say thanks to you all for all your advice XXX

What he says about oil - go for an oil change. Had similar problems wiv my Series and with new oil it slips in easy as. Where in the world are yas? You might find a gallant LZer galloping to your rescue..!
