hi guys my disc 300tdi everytime i leave it for 2 days without starting it it takes afew goes to start and i have to press the pedal up and down quickly.wen it does go to start its like as if its running out of diesel then it will pick up and then its fine. come the next day fine but come 2 days and its not starting as it should. ive checked filter. changed all spill off pipes. got rid of that rear filter houseing. still the same. oh and heater plug light comes on as it should. do you think that lift pump on side of engine could be a problem.any ideas.

Mine does the same and I've done the same as yo to try rectify it bar getting rid of the sedimenter.. Goes great when its warm though will be interesting to hear any suggestions (I just put it down to it bein an old diesel!)

fuel leaking back to tank? Check for any leaks in all pipes

Have you considered checking glow plugs at all !! They play a big part when starting from cold !! Just because the light comes on means not a lot !!!
Best whip em out connect to a battery and see if they glow !!!!
Simples !!

i had trouble with mine starting it was my faul injection seals changed them it sorted mine out, hope it helps

Hi steve wen you say fuel injection seals is that the coppet washer were the spill off pipe screws to injector.

it was the rubber seal that go round the injecters im no mechanic had a mate do it who is but if you do do it use genuine part hope you no what i mean

Might be the lift pump knackered so the injection pump is having to draw the fuel instead.

hi steve theres no rubber seals on mine there copper ones which fit around the end of injector .but thats just to stop compression escaping.i think lift pump.so i will get one and let you all know how it gets on. thanks for all comments.

The only rubber on the injectors is the leak off pipes(daisy chains to all injectors)if the rubber is perished or holed,this will cause your symptoms-the whole system will have to prime again on starter motor.

hi guys sorted problem it was either lift pump or heater plugs i changed both.it now starts first touch of the key. cheers

I never let the ignition sit on so the glow plugs work I just crank and mine starts on the first turn so I'd guess it was your lift pump. Good result either way.

hello mate glad you got it sorted,the injecters do have a rubber ring round them.
