Doubt the dealers have any influence over the design of a model, or it's systems.
True, but the vehicle manufacturers know that servicing subsidises the sales side of dealers, so reducing the cost of fixing things is not in their interests

Years ago just after the Morris traveller went out of production a guy wanted one so we built one from stores. From memory they cost about £1500.00 new. But the parts to build it cost £4500.00 at retail prices. So parts is a big earner for dealers. From the factory Loxhams where i worked got spares at 68% below retail price.

Tried the compressor this morning before we went out mooching.
It takes longer to let the tyre down to 20psi than it takes to pump it back up.

Nice tea.. Thanks son.

I got lucky too. Treat like a king all day. Spent the morning changing the front brake callipers and because it’s father’s day my son came along for some bonding time. So I got to sit down and ‘instruct’ the lad as he got his fingers dirty instead of me. Then a big Roast dinner in the evening. Marvellous day.
