Defiantly looks like the a/c compressor wire and that looks like the a/c compressor in the photo to.

Oh OK ty there is wire attached to the left of that part ( the part the fan brelt is connected to) the free hanging wire seems to come off of that one it has wot looks like a sensor on the end of it, do u think it should be attached?

Where ? All I see is the alternator. The A/C compressor sits below the alternator and is larger so on this shot would stick out from below. It's not , so it's missing.

It is part of the air conditioning system. Do you have a air con button in your landy?. If you do then the compressor was probably taken out as it was knackered. But it is nothing to worry about, not all freelander had air con.

Wire is wrapped in black tape will take a look tomorrow at color underneath, mine doesn't have air con either and there is no button for it

It may not have air con, but the wiring will be there as part of the wiring loom.
