Can anyone tell me the normal position for the handbrake lever when on?
It's back from the dealer and NOW the handbrake has to be straight up

It was at about 45 degrees before! Cant be normal, can it?

It's a 2011 model.

no not right needs drum setting then cable ,theres a threaded adjuster behnid seat box just before cable goes into lever assembly

The hand brake should be tight after 3 clicks and full engaged in 5 or less clicks, If not then it has not been properly adjusted
