I have my front axle on eBay and I am being asked how many splines it has. I am assuming it is original from 1988, so what would that make it? Or is there a quick way to check without pulling a halfshaft?
It is oil tight and I don't want to break a seal if I don't have to.

You do not identify your vehicle. If it's an early Defender it will have the 24 spline half shafts. Easy way to tell is to remove dust cap. You should be able to see the end of the shaft. If it's held by a circlip it's 24 splines.

Thick drive members means 10 spline vs thin for 24 iirc.

It was me asking pal, I've just located a complete 10 spline axle 6 miles away from me for 75 notes !
Thanks for getting the info needed though to fine out what yours was!
