Hi folks currently converting my 2.5 petrol to 200tdi! I used the flywheel housing from the petrol as I'm using a disco 200 an it bolts straight to my lt77 but having trouble fitting the starter to the backplate! Is it possible to modify it to take a diesel starter? I need help asap

I would imagine you need a 200tdi front plate to fit the starter to. Different cranking strength required to start a diesel methinks.

Supposedly the starter I've got fits all land rover 4c with lt77 but the holes on the starter are wider than the studs on the back plate! Would it b possible to Chan the plates on the starter

would have thought the 200tdi would bolt straight to lt gearbox?? why change the back plate??

not really you use 200 tdi flywheel housing and remove a few studs to fit

for that reason i used the tdi flywheel housing, IIRC i removed a stud, moved one, drilled and tapped a couple of others and counter sunk the bottom 4

Hi

I have converted my 90 from a 2.25 petrol to a 200tdi. I removed the studs that didn't line up, removed the locating dowels then drilled and tapped new holes to fit

That's what I thought about doing because the original verol starters have superceded! Cheers guys I'll let u know how I get on
