thinking of getting a ground anchor but cant decide on the metal spike type or the triangular type..anyone use one and are they any good, and which type is best?..and lastly where is the best place to get one or does anyone have one for sale..ta rich

hi mate . i have a mate who is a skipper on a 40ft fishin boat and he gave me one of the triangular see anchors and it can really pull. it pulled my depender 110 allong in mud with the handbrakes on . so id just get one of them . plus they are galvanised.

I have never needed one yet. If you do go out you are generally with other vehicles so you can use them to pull you out. I do carry 5 caravan awning storm pegs, a hammer and some rope so if the occasion does arise I can hammer them into the ground lashed together into a v and they will do the job. They cost me £1 each. Much cheaper and less bulky.;)

i bought the devon 4x4 gound anchor and mounting bracket. i havnt got stuck yet but did mess around with it easyily pulled my car with brakes on and build quality seems good and strong.

Get 5 3ft lengths of 40mm angle iron. Sharpen one end and drill an hole in tuther end. Place in ground in a vee shape. Link together with a length of chain & shackles. With pointy end of vee towards vehicle. That'll get you out

What length and diameter are these and do they have a suitable end to pull them out once yer out. I made up a triangle with flat plate and was looking for something just like that. I take it you get them from caravan agents.

I got stuck in mud yesterday and although I had my highlift I was unable to push it off at the front because the rear was too deep in mud, and couldnt get the bastid over at the rear cause I was slidding about up to my arse in mud. I had my hand winch but fookal to attach it to except a herd of fookin cows that I had to chuck bricks at.

Ended ripping my drivers indicator right off on a fence that was unable to take any strain from my winch, but where I had slid up against it, farmers gona love me when he sees his fence, and the cows with the bumps on their heads, the little bastids.

Had to dig it out and use my waffle boards, 30 seconds in and a fookin hour to get out, fookin nackered and covered with mud, cow ****e and ****. Oh and a swarm of fookin midgies that came to finish the day off.

They are approx 18" long, 2" wide on each side of the v. They have a hole near the top where you would normally attach a spring that goes up to the tie-down strap. Get yerself some small d shackles and a decent chain and once you have hammered them in so they form a v use the shackles to fasten them to the chain. put winch hook direct to chain or use a larger bow shackle. When you are done you can use the chain formed into a loop and secured with the bow shackle to pull em out. If they are stuck fast put the loop of chain over your high-lift foot and raise the jack to pull em out.;)

if you cant find any do like pikey says and use sharpened angle iron stake and just drill holes near the top.
