could be power supply for an auxiliary amplifier or for a sat nav unit?
Didn't some of the facelift ones have a Becker satnav system available?
Does your cigar lighter work as it could be for that?
generally, anything 2 cable like that is a simple power supply.

Footwell lighting?
Get a multimeter on it, and then switch on ignition. If it becomes live (12v) then you know it's something which comes on with things like the cigar lighter/stereo etc.
If it doesn't become live when ignition on, switch the engine on and keep monitoring. Then switch random things on and off and close/open doors until you find it becomes live. This may help you confirm what it is.
If it becomes live when the radio is switched on, then you'll know it's for an amp.

Red/White wires are used for power around ECU and the only one I can see that would appear under the drivers seat is in the Cruise Control loom from the paddle controls.
These should be red/white and blue/white - not black.
There is a large two wire connector for the heated seat but you say that's working?
There is a two wire SRS connector (yellow) down there that you need to leave well alone unless you want to risk something going off (restraint system).
The only other stuff in that area would be for the high end (Becker/Kardon) audio system or perhaps the feed for the auxilliary socket at the rear of the centre console.
Have a look at the wiring in Rave for your model it is quite comprehensive up to 2003 when they stopped updating it. After that you looks and then tries to work it out yourself.

the plug for the rear socket is like a letter T and does have red black hope this helps

auxiliary socket feed is under the cubby box in the arm rest - purple and black wires to a white plug and its live and ready to go!

This a plug behind the CD player - we are talking about the CD player that's in the dash aren't we???!!

Hi all i got the rave cd and it shows that the grey plug with a black & red/white cable is for a seat belt switch not the pretensioner a switch when the seat belt is pluged in and my owners manual said it is either optional or are only fitted to some vehicles in the model range if my hse han't got it what models have.

In the handbook there is mention of a seat-belt warning light, right enough. In the UK this is not connected. I guess LR didn't fit the rest of the loom necessary to make it work as it's not a legal requirement here. Money-saving!!
I think it is a requirement in North America and perhaps elsewhere.

Spot on Singvogel - looms and wiring do vary - not to any pattern it would seem?
There are N American looms wiv switches and UK ones without - what loom you gets seems to depend on what was in front of yours on the line when it was made or what was in stock on the shelf at the time??
If you want to waste a few hours try working out what's fitted and what's not in yours for the Cruise Control system (unless yours is factory fitted as standard) !!!
Sounds like Trev62 has the cables fitted for the seatbelt switches but not the switches as they were not offered in the UK even on the HSE - ours is an '06 HSE and we don't have the plugs. se la vie.

in alot of cases in costs more to change the spec with the supplier than it is to leave the connectors in place, they call them 'giveaways' lol
