Hey there folks, I'm Gaz and I'm in a bit of an interesting position... I'm not a driver yet myself but have always been tinkerer and greasemonkey for friends and family, me and my other half live in the family home with her mum and things are going to get interesting for me soon.

Her mother passed away and the money from the estate will be heading to her in good time (by the end of the year realistic estimate), not only does she want to do the house up (suits me and my gal as it's our inheritance) but she wants a rather specific vehicle...

It has to be good in the snow, off-road capable, 4x4, big enough to cart us and our big dogs around and easy to look after and clean inside and out. Ideally it also has to be easy and cheap to maintain with a basic toolkit so that I can do most of the work on it.

To me that said one thing and we have convinced her to get a Defender. Since that decision was made she did some research into the vehicle and started getting excited about the chance to join offroad clubs and have some real fun in it so here I am... I have a great chance to increase my knowledgebase and get some advice and so on well ahead of time ;)
