has anyone fitted an additional grab handle in the passenger side of a defender the same or similar to that in a disco?

the standard defender side one is a bit lame

cos me nipper struggles to keep his hand on the poxy handle they give ya as standard,he manages to keep both hands on the one in me mates disco,and as he wants to come out a lot more i wanna make sure hes safe

I havent done it but i guess you could grab one from a disco or similar, or even B&Q and bolt/self-tap it through the dash no problem cos its just a profile of bent steel

I can bend you up a piece of 20mm or 25mm conduit at work. let me know the width of the "arms", i can leave them as long as you like so you can trim them, maybe flatten them down so you can bolt through them to the dash.

On my Series III I used one of the grab handles off the rear cross member bolted through the front of the parcels tray, which is metal inside. I did it on the assumption that the passenger would be wearing a seatbelt, so it will be for steadying, not to take his whole weight.
