longdog Active Member Nov 28, 2009 #5 The 1951cc engine is alright on semi synthetic oil. Later 1995cc engines fitted in BMW's have particulate filters as part of emissions reduction. Fully synthetic oil to BMW long life spec is used to prolong the life of these filters.

howardo New Member Nov 28, 2009 #9 just put 10W/40 or 15W/40 multigrade to spec ACEA A3 and ACEA B3 in it. Castrol GTX diesel is good.
