So, as I mentioned in a previous post, less than 5 hours in to owning a P38 I ended up with a suspension fault despite being assured by the seller all was well (quite angry with him now
). It was the christmas tree lights and no rise/fall from the suspension.
It was taken in to a RR specialist this morning (was booked in on Tuesday) by my father in law and they've just called me to say that the front 2 bags are badly perished and probably leaking and that the compressor is completely knackered. The pump itself was relatively new (I saw the receipt and looked at it) so that's annoyed me.
Anyway, RR London have quoted me £593 (inc vat) for parts and labour to replace the compressor and the front 2 bags. The bags were £60 something each and the compressor was £170odd.
So, having just forked out for the RR in the first place and now facing a bill of £600 to make it driveable (it's still in London.. I need to get it here to Edinburgh..!) is frustrating. I guess my question is whether or not this is a good price or am I being over charged quite a bit? I've seen other people talking about the bags being nearer £20 each and a pump being about £50.
If I could drive (or transport) the thing back up home I'd have my local mechanic do the work for me (no labour charge) for just parts. I don't think driving from London to Edinburgh with an 'EAS Fault' is such a good idea, is it?
Bit deflated! Pardon the pun.
