Hi all.
My name is Simon, and from monday Ill be the proud owner of a Discovery 1, 300TDi on an M plate.
Im buying it off my brother, who still needs it til monday when he's getting a Defender.

Ive wanted a Landrover since I was about 14 years old, I even considered a 101 forward control at one point, and decided around september last year that I was going to get a land rover within the next year, and as my current vehicle - an astra - decided to keel over and die recently, I decided now was as good a time as any to get one, then low and behold, my brother tells me I can have his discovery as he needs something else for his business.

It needs a bit of work doing to it, nothing major, just a little welding, new rear shocks, and investigating why the right rear indicator doesnt work, which is probably just a bad earth.

So thought Id come on and say hi, and hopefully Ill be spending quite a while loitering around on here, and maybe one day contribute my own experiences with my landy to others.

By 'eck yer brothers a crafty fooker...gets rid of his disco and gets a defender...win, win situation...have you got a little brother you can flog it on to...then you can get a defender like your wiser bro...or just give it to your 2 year old, its gonna be in bits most of the time anyhows...:D

:welcome2:

He is my little bro lol.
Id have more than happily had a defender, or even a series, but our lass likes her comfort lol. I even had the offer of a series 110 pickup pretty cheap, but it wasnt a double cab, so not practical.

Exsquuze me...your doris has a say in this? Me thinks not...buy what you want and if she dont like it, tell her you'll wave as you pass her at the fookin bus stop....gonna have no time for the maritals now anyhows...

She's a good lass, so we compromise on things like that.
The disco will be for general family stuff, and maybe light off-roading.
However, next in the pipeline (once Ive got somewhere to do it, cos Ive no garage etc) will be a 90 of some description, fully kitted out for playing in :D

But regarding people having a say in what I get, you should have heard her mother when I told her what I was getting!!
'you dont need something that big, just get a small car!'

My car, I decide what I get, not her!

she's gonna love her son in law more when ya visit and the disco piddles oil and stuff on the drive...good for you, ya wont be invited so much..bonus!!

If only lol.
She only lives round the corner, so she insists on seeing her grandson pretty much every or every other day, but wont come to ours (long pathetic story!), so we have to go there.

Lazy bitch...i can get you a 109 with a v8..just park it on the road outside her house, start it every day for 30 mins at 3.45am and otherwise let it rot away...

lol
As tempting as that sounds, methinks our lass would remove bedroom priviledges if I were to do that lol.

hehe
Nah, she's a lovely lass, wouldnt trade her in for the world, or a defender lol.

Cheers to everyone who's said hi :D
