ok i cant find the thread but someone posted that the glow plug bulb was so dim because it only had 6 volts suplied to it. so should a 6v bulb be used?
if so how many watt/amp bulb should be used?
is an e10 the correct bulb?

Hi sorry to jump on ypur thread (don't know about bulb)but my S11a the wire etc from the glow plugs are missing so know light at all any one got a clue how to wire it up or what should be there!!!! thanks

yep you just wire the bulb across the resistor on the bulkhead. (+ve side of resistor to bulb, from bulb to glowplug side of resistor)

now go have a look at your bulb and tell me what it says on it!!!!

Don't forget if you have modern type replacement glow plugs then you bypass the resistor completely and loop them together, then it earths through the block...and you can take a feed for the glow plug light from anywhere.

I've got my glow plug light fed off the last glow plug so as to verify that they all actually work, but that's with modern type plugs.

To stop the bulb from being dim you could divert the feed to the bulb to the +12v feed to the resistor, not the 'other side' of the resistor

the glow plug lamp is wired across the resistor, not to one side of it.

modern plugs are wired in parallel so taking a feed for the lamp off the last glow plug will only confirm that you have a voltage to your plugs, not that they are working.

your method would be an easy fix but i want to keep things as origional as i can, i just wondered is a 6v or a 12v bulb meant to be fitted if using old style plugs.

bargain, one more thing if the glow plug light is dim then its working properly , if it goes bright then that indicates a short circuit
