I have come to fit my bulkhead vent seals but they have a few different colours of paint on them, Does anybody know how to remove the paint without wrecking the rubber?

They are not glued in yet as it will obviously be easier to do anything with them before hand.
Thanks.
Malc.

Depends if they are foam or closed cell.
On the door seals I found thinners and brass brush work ok but give a dull finish.
Could try a tiny bit of paint stripper but test that it doesn't dissolve the rubber

I used thinners and a scotch pad on mine, but I can also confirm that nitromors in the green tin doesn't attack rubber. I stripped some brembo calipers a while ago and it didn't touch the rubber.

Thanks for the replies. will be trying some of them out this weekend. I have also been told soaking them in olive oil keeps them supple, dont know about soaking them but I might try rubbing a bit on them, A bit of extra virgin if I can sneak it out of the kitchen......

mate of mine who is a trimmer swears by brake fluid for getting paint off headlinings etc so it should be safe for your vent rubbers
