I've had my car 48 hours and either there's something wrong with the central locking or I am just too used to jap trucks. Getting in and out of it is not easy, I can only unlock the drivers door with the fob, if you are in it and accidentally lock the car, you can't get the button up again! The manual says one press for driver only and two for all doors? How close together for the two? I can't get it to work, I'm leaving it unlocked at the moment as we are having so much trouble getting in and out of it! Any ideas?

what happens when you try to lock/unlock with the dash switch? do they all work or just the driver's ... unlock them all manually then try to lock(fob or switch) ..do they lock all?

If you put the key in the doorlock it only unlocks the drivers door. Not sure about the other bit, but it's raining outside so I won't check now!

I don't think that there is a "time limit" for the second press of the fob button.

I press mine once to unlock the driver's door as I'm leaving the house and the second press for the other doors as I reach the car.

One question which must be asked; have you replaced the battery in the fob? It's a CR2032 "coin" cell, you can get them from loads of places, camera shops, Boots the Chemist, some garages, B&Q, the list goes on.

I might be very wrong ! But can't the d2 be dealer set to only open the drivers door from fob of wanted to . And not the 2nd press for all doors

d2 set to open drivers dorr first press then second press opens the rest. when locking keep lock button pressed and lights turn on for 30 seconds to get you home or until you press lock again

I've just re-read the single point entry chapter in the owner's h/book.

One press opens the driver's door.

The second press opens the other doors, the second press must be within one minute of the first press.

The default condition in the Disco is "single point entry" but it can be disabled, presumably to all doors open on the first press by a Land Rover stealer or somebody with a Nanocom or maybe Hawkeye.

There's also the door lock/unlock switch on the far left of the dashboard, over by the clock and just above the ashtray. Press the top of the switch to unlock and the bottom of the switch to lock the doors from inside the car.

no with this on my td5 first press drivers door then second press no time limit all doors. I open with fob then press dash button to unlock the rest of landy.

The behaviour is as said, if it's set on SPE the second press must be within 1 minute to open the other doors... the other thing with pressing the fob longer than 1 second activates the courtesy headlights.... thats how it works... both SPE and courtesy headlights can be enabled/disabled with tester.

1. Courtesy headlamps
This feature activates the headlamps for 30 seconds when the lock button on the remote transmitter is held down for
longer than 1 second. The headlamps will extinguish if the BCU receives either a lock or an unlock signal from the
remote transmitter.
The BCU checks the status of the following inputs to determine the correct qualifying conditions for requesting
courtesy headlamps:
l Ignition state.
l Remote locking request.
l Remote unlocking request.
l Lazy locking request.
If the ignition is off and a lazy locking request is received, the courtesy headlamps are switched on and an internal
timer is turned on in the BCU which operates for 30 seconds. If the 30 second timer expires or a request for remote
locking or remote unlocking is received, the courtesy headlamps will be turned off.
......

2. Single point entry
Single point entry (SPE) allows the driver to unlock the driver's door while leaving all other doors locked.
There are two configurations for single point entry:
l SPE not active.
l SPE active.
To use SPE, press the unlock button on the handset once. Depressing the unlock button a second time in the space
of one minute
unlocks the remaining doors. SPE is also possible by turning the key in the driver's door lock to the
unlock position once. Turning the key to the unlock position again within one minute unlocks the remaining doors.
In order for SPE to operate, the following conditions must be met:
l The ignition is off.
l All doors are locked.

just an advice: take care if the door lock or fob is making tricks do not superlock the car(press lock twice) cos you might end up breaking a window

Just tried again, the unlock button is the one that says land rover right? Car locks ok with lock button. If you press unlock once nothing happens, just makes a noise. if you press twice the back doors unlock. I have to use the key to open the front drivers door. Is that the battery or is the central locking knackered?

what happens if you try to lock /unlock with the interior switch m8? ... that is the question

hm, using that button the front passenger door doesn't unlock. If I turn the key once the drivers door unlocks, I tried turning it again and the back doors unlocked. Why can't these cars be normal and just unlock and lock? Doh!

i dont understand what you mean ...sorry..i'm, tryig to help but i must know what's happening there.... if you turn the key once where? ..in the ignition or in the door?

just sit in the car and lock/unlock with the switch ..tell me what happens then... if all the doors are workink OK on the switch the central locking and the door lock actuators are OK and there's a comunication issue with the fob or the driver's door switch is faulty... there is a fault somewhere not that your car is not normal... when everything is ok that's what it does...lock / unlock all the doors...in the desired set sequence

Using the door key once opens drivers door, do it again opens back doors but not passenger door. Only way to open that is pulling twice on the inside handle.
Using the button on the dash only works on the back doors.
