So both of my rear tyres are nearing replacement so I popped over to my local tyre shop to enquire on prices for a pair of AT2's in 255 65 16 to be told they've stopped making them having been replaced by the AT !
How much truth is in this ?
I can order AT2's online to be fitted locally but that increases the cost somewhat ! I don't want to buy a pair of 2's now and need another pair in 6 months time only to find I can't get any !
So do I buy 2's now and hope I can get some more when needed or do I go for AT's ?

Baz ;)

Hi Baz, as far as I've been led to believe, AT² are finished. There may still be some stock around but the production has been terminated.

Apparently it's due to noise levels and the new methods of grading tyres.??

So either go down the way of the newer GG AT or BFG AT.

Dave

The AT2 has not been terminated totally, They still produce and sell it in America.

It has however been replaced by the Grabber AT for the most part in the EU due to noise regs.

AT2's are still available till stocks run out, but my experience is the AT is as good as the AT2 anyway.

AT's are better in every area than AT2's, except thick mud where the AT2's are a bit better. Although neither are great in mud in my experience.
On the road AT's are miles better.

Mmmmmm AT's then I think !
Thanks for the replys peeps .
I don't really venture off road but it's nice to know its capable should the need arise ( snow etc etc ) so something that does perform better for 99.9% of the time is probably the way forward ;)
Thanks again Baz

Yes we can't buy in the AT2 any more, suppliers have a few in some sizes left over but not many. All down to noise I think
