Just been out in my Freelander and after reading the thread about gearstick shake i decided to check mine. Mine is a 02 TD4 with 46000 on the clock

When i am driving, mainly in 3rd 4th and 5th the gear stick seems to shake ever so slightly. Only seems to move a centre metre if that. Do you think this is normal. Checked vcu by reversing with lock on and its seems fine. No excessive braking ect.

What i would like to know is, does anyone elses stick shake and do you think this is normal.

Also noticed a slight Vibration coming through the vehicle, mainly above 50mph. I have checked the tyres, the front ones look a little low but not near the wear limiter however they seem in a good general condition.

bound to get a bit of vibration - after all - it is attached the the engine... (well gearbox to be precise)

i think its a question of degrees (sorry - couldnt help that) ;)

I expect a little vibrationon the gearstick, think i scared myself because i read that and have never ever noticed it before on my Freelander. Also think it is becuase i drive other 4x4's at work which are a lot more modern in design and dont have these little quirks lol Any thoughts on the vibration thru the car?

yeh thats it design characteristics,God, being a salesman i have used that a few times when i have sold Freelanders

Only sell used ones but if a customer comes and asks for a petrol one i tell them to throw they money down a drain. Its the same effect really. Nah i sell new Hyundai and Seat.

The length of the stick isnt going to help, it will always vibrate a bit at speed and move when the gearbox re-engages on take off.

Unless it falls off in your hand or is hitting your passenger due to the vibrations, stop panicking.

Thanks Zippy - Just done a hundred miles in it today and no problems. i was just panicking i think. Even went for a bit greenlaning
