As long as it isn't loosing any then - not a problem - if it smells like gearoil because it's pouring out somewhere... problem, and only if it's loosing enough to mean a monthly refill.

This is where my gear oil smell comes from....my gear is coated in the stuff...love it

is it usual to be able to smell the gearbox oil when youve been driving for about 20 mins doing a steady 65 on the motorway? its not a strong smell but its there

Not unusual to smell oil but very unusual to be doing 65...cant remember the last time i went past 60!

After being under the landy this morning I have a slight leak from the transfer box n a bloody leak from my power steering pump oh n looks like a leak on my clutch cos the fluid was non existent caught it just in time!!!
Transfer box leak may just be blocked breathers.
