Hi Just wondering if you can change the gearbox oil in a Freelander 1 TD4 manual by pumping it out? If so how?

Why would you want to?

Just remove the drain plug, but only after you've removed the filler plug.

On a separate matter I was looking to get a Ron box and new maf after reading the various posts on here and came across obd2 tuning box do they work?

A Synergy 2 is the best tuning box to get.

No. Just a small plastic OBD connector in bright colours with some flashing LEDs for entertainment. They don't do anything to the engine at all, they don't even connect to the CAN, but just take battery voltage and put on a light display.

Thanks for this took your advice Nodge68 ,again, and fitted a Synergy 2 and what a difference.!l. Hopefully my last qs for a while issues are a whiney sound from which sounds like coming from the back and a similar sound to the old original mini's like a high pitched drone which goes as the revs increase and 2 the engine which is a bit noisey/rattley. I'm presuming this the same issue as I have on ths wifes Focus with noisey hydraulic tappits. I managed to reduce the noise by adding an oil additive which worked but cant remember which one. Any recommendations? Thanks again for all your help....
