Hi,I need to replace my gearbox cooler and pipes on my dse,is this a job that can be done at home? Any tips,how to's etc would be much appreciated,thanks,Lee.
 
Pretty straightforward look in RAVE for details. Good time to do an oil and filter change at the same time. This assumes you are talking about an auto.
 
My only tip is your changing one or the other then be prepared to change what you didn't plan too as the unions on the coolers will seize and the threads will strip.
 
Threads on mine impossible to remove as seized solid to the cooler. If this happens to you be prepared for a new cooler as well as the pipes. Was lucky when removing the timing cover that the cooler could be seperated from the radiator (which came out).
 
Think the OP needs to say if it is a petrol, diesel auto or diesel manual. Three different set ups.
 
its a dse so its a diesel,thanks for the imput,ive resigned myself to the fact i'll have to change the pipes and cooler,just wondered if there was any tips,is it just a nuts and bolts job? do i need any special tools.is there a right procedure etc,ive looked at rave and cant see a step by step guide,ive not been under a car for a long time and although i done my glow plugs and leak off's recently i found that a bleeding nightmare! thanks again for your help.Lee.

Just nuts and bolts. I take it this is an auto with separate cooler. Pipes onto cooler will more than likely be seized solid due to electrolysis. If you have a new cooler and pipes just cutting the old pipes off to remove maybe easiest way. Take some photos of pipe runs first if you are unsure. Spills and glowplugs are not exactly difficult, so you may have a treat coming.
