my defender 90 200 trillion gear box has developed a whine in 4th and even louder in 5th . It seems to change tone when I handle the gear stick too . Is this terminal . Thanks for any input

200 trillion?? Interested in the answer to this as mine does exactly the same. Although I haven't noticed a change in the noise when handling the gear stick. Mines a 200tdi

That's auto correct for you its. A 200 tdi.how long has yours been making this noise

About 3 months - got worse recently. Keep meaning to drop it into my local Indy garage but my horse lorry has been trying to bankrupt me first.

It recently got swapped by iawa classics as the old one disintegrated internally. I'll check when it stops raining
