Hi
The garage that take care of my P38 (1995 Auto 4.6HSE no LPG) advised me to change the GB or get a rebuilt. I took the rebuilt option and ordered mine from ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk. The box has been fitted with the correct oil and we changed the Transfer Case oil as well. There are some improvement BUT...
1. I still have a "kick" from 1 to 2 at low rev (nothing at high rev)
2. I still have difficulties to move from P to D when the car is cold. Twice I heard the GB "scream" when I went to drive. To make it work when I feel some resistance is to push the pedal brake several times and the small trigger on the Gear lever, then it will be better. Sometimes (Stop the car for an hour or so or in traffic Jam), changing from P to D is just flawless
These are not normal, I contacted ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk for the Kick and they said that there is nothing to do.
Now I maybe naive but let's assume that ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk and the garage are not at fault. What could cause the two problem above? Problem with the Selector (P to D)? Transfer Case?
Still the change of Gear Box is appreciable, above 2000rpm gear change are silky smooth and going to D to R or other gear is also very smooth.
