So my gateway actuator is disconnected from the rod/turbo I'm not sure why but it was like this when I bought it should I connect it back up and how many threads

I think you mean wastegate not "gateway" ... off course you should connect it back otherwise dont expect too much power, the standard setup is 13 threads left from the locknut toward the valve but you can let 11 without overboost if everything is OK

Ok thanks when I connected it up it seemed to leak a bit of oil what could this be. Thanks again.

Where's the oil coming from - the turbo?

Then it's even harder for us to tell... anyway it's no oil involved in the wastegate's activity
