Been thinking about putting a gas strut on the rear door as it does my head in when the wind blows it shut . Ones purposefully for the Defender are a rip off. Seen them on ebay for only a few quid, would have to make bracket but that can't be too hard. Not sure what resistance would be best though. Obviously I don't want one that when I open the door it launches me back through the wall and makes it a pain in the arse to close, neither do I want one that's so weak that there's just no point.

Any one done it or have a rough ideas as to what would be the best Nm for it? Thanks again ^.^

just get one from a range rover bonnet

Go to a car breakers and get one from a boot - i have a pair to go on my spitfire bonnet at some point, only cost a few quid - if they can support a boot upwards it can support a door sideways!

I've been thinking of something like this.

Toolstation > Ironmongery > Hooks & Picture Hanging > Cabin Hook

Simple and can't go wrong....Until you jam it in the door

get the rear bar from a nissan vanette. it will bolt straight onto a fender door and has notches in it & a liftup cam that locks the door at 90degrees. To close yu lift the lever out of the notch.

Couldn't find any of the Nissan Vanette ones for sale that looked like they were any good, but I guess I will just keep my eye out. Sure there will be ones in the jumble at one of the upcoming land rover shows from some other vehicle or a range rover bonnet as you say or whatever.
