i did then removed tham as they were a pain in arse when working on the engine bay, I used some old metro boot struts and fabricated a bracket for the bonnet and made a thicker bit of plate for the inner wing easy enough to do, just takes planning for when its compressed and for where its fully open.

I was thinking it would be easier for checking oils and water and small jobs, as anything big tends to see me removing the bonnet anway, with the bonnet off I can have decent lighting and head room at the back of the engine so in effect the struts wouldn't affect me that way
Will have a measure and a price up for struts to first check viability.
