i did then removed tham as they were a pain in arse when working on the engine bay, I used some old metro boot struts and fabricated a bracket for the bonnet and made a thicker bit of plate for the inner wing easy enough to do, just takes planning for when its compressed and for where its fully open.

I've been thinking about doing this but never considered them getting in the way when working on the engine so thanks for the heads up
I was thinking it would be easier for checking oils and water and small jobs, as anything big tends to see me removing the bonnet anway, with the bonnet off I can have decent lighting and head room at the back of the engine so in effect the struts wouldn't affect me that way

go o a scrapper and find an old metro or similar, you don't need big struts
