So I had a look. Couldn't find anything specific. Had a look on the G4 Owners Club page (you might like to ask them) which had a link to their Facebook page, which had this picture...
The A Bar on that looks exactly the same as the standard A Bar on my pre facelift (including the top piece being a bit droopy)...
The plastic A-frame is not unique to the G4, and these crop up on eBay (and probably other auction sites) from time to time. Just keep your eyes peeled!
What ever you do,make sure you get the 2 brackets that bolt to the metal bumper and poke through the plastic bumper/valance and bolt to the A Bar where those white plastic covers are in the pic of my car above. Also get the 2 rods that bolt to the bottom of the A Bar and go through the valance and get secured by the front undertray bolts. You'll be wanting the bolts & washers for those brackets as well.
Without those brackets you'll have a dickens of a job securing it to the car. You also need to take the plunge and cut those whole in the plastic bumper - and hope they line up with the A Bar, or else you'll have to cut the holes bigger and they will be visible after you've installed it.
The part number is STC 50413 and there are fitting instructions in the Rave manual described as "Protection Bar - A Frame" in the "Accessory Fitting Instructions" section. Its has a pic of all the fitting bits you'll need to collect with the A Bar.
It looks like you can still buy them new for £300 ...
Shame the new one is worth the same as a whole FL1... LOL
100% on getting the brackets too - they'll be essential. I actually seriously considered buying one with the bumper complete, then I could return to standard very easily. In the end I decided I liked my Hippo's face as it was without the Hannibal Lecter face ornament.
I actually like the full metal (jacket) looking bars as opposed to the rubber ones. My first landy was a D1 200tdi to chihc I fitted the proper bar, my RRC has a genuine land rover one on it, I fitted a rubber bar to the wifes old D1 300tdi, and my hippo has one of those G4 / LR accessory bars fitted to it with the pods for the spot lights.
Talking about my hippo - Damn it @GrumpyGel - now you have highlighted the droopiness in these bars, I cannot unsee it in my own one now!
I have seen these bull bars in the flesh. They look worse than in the photo's. They look like someone's school project. The way they look and bend round the Freelander is shocking.
I'm very much against metal bull bars on vehicles that spend most of their time in town. If you collect a child that runs into the road, they have no chance of survival if they are collected by a solid lump of iron.
Admittedly, the chances are not much greater with the soft A Bar, but they have got to be better.
I like the V6 bumper on that though. Could mount some headlamp washers on there.
Do they fit onto a TD4 commercial fairly easily? Might try to get one for mine!
All Hippos are pretty much the same monocoque, with the exception of the 5 door which is a variation of the same structure. As such the freelander commercial and 3 door are pretty much identical in the bare pressed metal, the bits tha make them a van or a car are bolted on. As such us hippo owners are lucky enough that any hippo bumper, front and rear, will bolt on to any hippo
The v6 bumper sticks out 50mm more on the line below the headlights because the stuff behind it was moved forward for more engine space. The only difference over the standard fit one.
