Hi there I have a 54 plate td5 the fuel gauge is not working properly it dont go below half a tank y is this can it be fixed if so how .

I wish mine didn't go below half

Check the pump and then the sender, simples.

Lift out the pump, remove the relay, turn ignition on and move the float by hand along all i's travel and if the gauge doesnt react to it you might need a new sender, it can be changed as it's available as spare https://www.island-4x4.co.uk/fuel-tank-sender-yad500040-p-37618.html or can be removed from a dead pump
